Our camps are designed for hands-on, minds-on learning. Camp curriculum is centered around STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics and features hands-on activities led by experienced educators.

Camp Family Guide

Campers should be registered based on the grade they completed in the 2023-2024 school year.

SCHEDULE: Drop-off begins each morning at 7:45 AM and continues until 9:00 AM. Camp activities run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with Extended Care available until 6:00 PM. Extended Care is $5 per day.

COST: Weeklong camps are $250 per camper. Each transaction will show up on your bank statement as a payment to Florida State University. If you dispute a camp registration charge with your bank, the camp registration will be cancelled. A $10 processing fee will be applied to any cancellations. 

ADDITIONAL FEES: Some camps will indicate additional fees for field tips, guest visits, special technology, and other unique amenities.

LUNCH: Lunch is not included in the cost of weeklong camps. Campers will have the option to prepay for one week of lunches. Prepaid lunch options may include: OG Subs, Brooklyn Pizza, Veggie Nuggets, etc. If this option is not selected students will be required to bring their own lunch each day. We do not provide refrigeration or a microwave for lunches.

Week 1 (May 28th- May 31st) – Melody Makers **SOLD OUT**

Get ready for a symphony of fun and learning. Activities may include learning the difference between natural and human-caused sound, finding natural quiet spaces, exploring soundwaves with water, watching Fantastic Fractals in the planetarium, and more. 

Week 2 (June 3rd – June 7th) – Dream Big **SOLD OUT**

Young minds take big leaps into a world of endless possibilities. Activities may include exploring the science of innovation, designing a product, making prototypes with LEGOs, pitching your product, creating a brand, and more. 

Week 3 (June 10th – June 14th) – Ocean Odyssey **SOLD OUT**

Dive into a world of wonder under the sea. Activities may include making Angler Fish headbands, exploring ocean themed sensory bins, watching Under the Sea in IMAX, and more. 

Week 4 (June 17th – June 21st) – Safari Science *$20 Field Trip Fee added to this camp* **SOLD OUT**

Embark on an exciting adventure through the safari. Activities may include learning about food webs, exploring keystone species, watching Born to Be Wild in IMAX, building your own mini ecosystem, and more. 

Week 5 (June 24th – June 28th) – Minecraft Creators **SOLD OUT**

Imagination knows no bounds in Minecraft. Activities may include coding with Bee Bots, exploring far off environments in Minecraft, flying a Mission to Mars in the Space Mission Simulator, watching Into America’s Wild in IMAX, building a Mars Colony, and more. 

Week 6 (July 8th – July 12th) – The Wizarding Week of Science **SOLD OUT**

Take a spellbinding journey through the science of the wizarding world. Activities may include getting sorted into your STEAM house, making your own wand, creating potions, learning astronomy, competing in magical games, and more. 

Week 7 (July 15th – July 19th) – Lego Quest **SOLD OUT**

Curiosity and innovation come to life through a series of mind-bending Lego challenges. Activities may include building a city, learning place values with LEGOs, exploring the difference between 2D and 3D, tinker toy challenges, and more. 

Week 8 (July 22nd – July 26th) – Storybook Science **SOLD OUT**

We take story time to new heights by combining the enchanting world of books with the wonders of science. Activities may include germinating beanstalks, building a swamp for Shrek, engineering a protective suit for Humpty Dumpty, performing scenes from Reader’s Theatre, creating your own ultraviolet rainbow fish, and more. 

Week 9 (July 29th – Aug 2nd) – Astronaut Training **SOLD OUT**

Our most highly requested camp is back! Get ready for an out-of-this-world experience that will fuel the imagination of any young space enthusiast. Activities may include Astronaut Boot Camp, watching Hubble 3D in IMAX and Secrets of a Cardboard Rocket in the Digital Dome, flying a mission on the Space Mission Simulator, training in a Barany chair, learning to maneuver with astronaut gloves, and more. 

Week 10 (Aug 5th- Aug 9th) – Chaotic Crafting *$10 Field Day Fee added to this camp* **SOLD OUT**

Ignite your student’s imagination and give them the freedom to explore a variety of creative projects. Activities may include painting messy masterpieces, creating a nature collage, upcycling everyday items into extraordinary works of art, designing treasure maps, Field Day Friday, and more.  

Week 1 (May 28th- May 31st) – Expedition Ecology

Unravel the mysteries of the great outdoors. Activities may include learning about food webs, exploring keystone species, an ecological scavenger hunt, and more.

Week 2 (June 3rd – June 7th) – Minecraft Engineers **SOLD OUT**

Imagination knows no bounds in Minecraft. Activities may include building bridges, STEM Olympics, designing a snack delivery system, Minecraft challenges, making a real Minecraft torch, and more.

Week 3 (June 10th – June 14th) – Science of Movement

Leap into fun and learn how to move. Activities may include learning how bones connect to one another, exploring the mechanics of muscle movements, water balloon dodgeball, and more.

Week 4 (June 17th – June 21st) – How Do We Know? *$20 Field Trip Fee added to this camp*

Curiosity is the key to unlocking a world of knowledge. Students will answer real-world questions through scientific exploration. Activities may include designing parts for a weather station, exploring chemical reactions in the kitchen, collecting samples from nature, experimenting with magnetic fields, and more.

Week 5 (June 24th – June 28th) – STEAM History

Explore major scientific events that changed our world forever. Activities may include exploring the history of space travel, learning about forgotten superheroes of science, watching Apollo 11 and Hubble 3D in IMAX, flying a mission on the Space Mission Simulator, and more.

Week 6 (July 8th – July 12th) – Wizarding Week of Science

Take a spellbinding journey through the science of the wizarding world. Activities may include getting sorted into your STEAM house, making your own wand, creating potions, learning astronomy, studying botany, and more.

Week 7 (July 15th – July 19th) – Rockets & Robotics *$30 Special Tech Fee added to this camp*

Blast off into a world of exploration and innovation. Activities may include learning about robots that go to space, designing stomp rockets, Dash Robot challenges, building and launching model rockets, and more.

Week 8 (July 22nd – July 26th) – Minecraft Explorers

Combine the excitement of Minecraft with real-world exploration. Activities may include exploring different environments in Minecraft, building renewable energy with snap circuits, conducting an environmental survey, Jr. Park Ranger training, and more.

Week 9 (July 29th – Aug 2nd) – Myth Testers

Unravel the mysteries of the universe and debunk common myths. Activities may include learning how gravity affects everyday objects, testing the limits of inertia and friction, tackling common myths and misconceptions that you see online, participating in physics demonstrations, and more.

Week 10 (Aug 5th- Aug 9th) – Astronaut Training *$10 Field Day Fee added to this camp* **SOLD OUT**

You don’t have to travel into deep space to study one of the universe’s most unique planets – Earth. Learn about electricity, magnetism, gravity, and physical phenomenon such as earthquakes. Activities may include building a compass, painting with gravity, creating earthquakes, making edible models of the Earth’s core, and more.

Week 4 (June 17th – June 21st) – Board Game Builders

Dive into a world where creativity meets strategy. Activities may include learning the basics of statistics and game theory, creating your own board game, building a Rube Goldberg Machine, 3D print game pieces, and more.

Week 5 (June 24th – June 28th) – Art & Animation

Explore the art of animation and individual expression. Activities may include learning the history of animation, creating a storyboard, learning stop-motion animation, animating your own characters using Scratch, making flipbooks, and more.

Week 6 (July 8th – July 12th) – Wizarding Week of Science

Take a spellbinding journey through the science of the wizarding world. Activities may include getting sorted into your STEAM house, making your own wand, creating potions, learning astronomy, studying botany, and more.

Week 7 (July 15th – July 19th) – Quantum Quest *$30 Special Tech Fee added to this camp*

Discover the forces that rule the universe. Activities may include exploring the physics of roller coasters, building an electromagnet, watching Black Holes in the Digital Dome, completing a buoyancy challenge, learning the relationship between optics and light, and more.

Week 8 (July 22nd – July 26th) – Science Journalism *$20 Field Trip Fee added to this camp*

Does your student love sharing the latest ideas they learned? Science journalists communicate complex scientific advancements to their community and serve a vital role in bridging the gap between academic research and the public. Activities may include learning the art of storytelling, exploring the importance of asking questions, interviewing scientists, reporting on recent scientific findings, and more.

Week 9 (July 29th – Aug 2nd) – Hobbying 101

Hobbies provide an important space for kids to express themselves and build self-esteem, but it can feel overwhelming to try to find a new hobby. Our goal is to help every child find their perfect match. Explore a diverse range of hobbies like astronomy, bird watching, creative writing, drawing, dancing, crocheting, hiking, making music, origami, painting, photography, robotics, sewing, sculpting, sports, 3d printing, and more.

Week 10 (Aug 5th- Aug 9th) – Expedition Ecology *$10 Field Day Fee added to this camp*

Unravel the mysteries of the great outdoors. Activities may include learning about food webs, creating your own trading cards, Jr. Park Ranger training, building an animal habitat, Field Day Friday, and more.

Week 1 (May 28th- May 31st) – Future Engineers *$175 Special Tech Fee added to this camp*

This camp is not just about learning engineering concepts; it’s about gaining the confidence to apply them in real-world scenarios. Students will explore, create, and build the future they envision. Activities may include learning how to make circuits, building robotic arms, designing a city, testing water quality, building a structure to withstand an earthquake, and more.

Week 2 (June 3rd – June 7th) – Intro to Research *$20 Field Trip Fee added to this camp*

Designed for curious minds, this camp is the perfect opportunity for students to unlock the secrets of the scientific method and develop essential research skills. Activities may include building your own telescope, learning environmental surveying techniques, proving newton’s laws, and more.

Week 3 (June 10th – June 14th) – Chaotic Robotics

Budding engineers, inventors, and tech enthusiasts take on a series of robotics challenges to instill confidence and inspire participants to tackle even more ambitious projects. Activities may include building and coding robots, navigating obstacle courses, developing solutions to real-world problems, competing in a hack-a-thon, and more.

Week 4 (June 17th – June 21st) – Tech for Makers

Creativity and technology unite to inspire the innovators of tomorrow. Activities may include creating custom objects with 3D printers and carvers, programing innovative solutions with EV3 Mindstorms, and more.

Week 5 (June 24th – June 28th) – Aeronautic Engineering *$200 Field Trip Fee added to this camp*

Take flight into the exciting world of aerospace innovation. Activities may include building and launching model rockets, learning to fly drones, a flight simulator, and more. Campers will travel to Kennedy Space Center on Friday the 28th. For this field trip, campers will depart our center around 5am and arrive back around 11pm. You will be updated with exact departure and arrival times as we get closer to this camp date.

Week 6 (July 8th – July 12th) – Wizarding Week of Science

Take a spellbinding journey through the science of the wizarding world. Activities may include getting sorted into your STEAM house, making your own wand, creating potions, learning astronomy, studying botany, and more.

Week 7 (July 15th – July 19th) – Cyber Security

Join Dr. Li for a hands-on cyber security camp designed to inspire the next generation of cyber security professionals. Topics may include cyber security principles, ethics, risk management, game theory, computer networking, and more.

Week 8 (July 22nd – July 26th) – Jr Film School

Lights, camera, action! Aspiring filmmakers learn how to turn their ideas into unforgettable on-screen moments. Activities may include writing a script, recording and editing a short film, learning the science of green screens and CGI, and more.

Week 9 (July 29th – Aug 2nd) – Video Game Science

Unlock your inner game developer and discover the science behind building video games. Activities may include designing your own game with Bloxels, coding in Minecraft, building a Nintendo Labo kit, competing in a Nintendo Switch tournament, and more.

Week 10 (Aug 5th- Aug 9th) – Imagination Lab *$10 Field Day Fee added to this camp*

The ultimate playground for young minds eager to explore a variety of creative avenues. Activities may include creating a podcast, writing, and filming a skit, coding robots to create art, designing a game, making robots out of LEGOs, Field Day Friday, and more.

High School Camps run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day. 

Week 3 (June 10th – June 14th)- Underwater Robotics *$175 Special Tech Fee added to this camp*

Harness the energy of hydraulics and buoyancy! Underwater Robotics Camp was created to introduce students to the possibilities of robotics and engineering as they work as a team to design and assemble a fully functioning submarine robot. Students will explore the question “What does it take to make robotics work underwater?” while learning basic electronics, soldering, and acrylic construction.

Each team will calibrate and test their machine in a “micro expedition,” setting out into the field to explore underwater! Activities may include utilizing the engineering design process, constructing robots as a team, assembling controllers and motors, and more.

Week 4 (June 17th – June 21st) – Planetary Science

From the fiery surface of the sun to the icy realms of distant planets, get ready to explore the wonders of planetary science. Humans have only stepped foot on one other entity in our solar system, the moon. So how do we know what the surface and interiors of other bodies in our solar system are like? Come explore the science and engineering used on exploratory spacecrafts (e.g., the Juno Mission) and planetary landers such as the Mars Insight Lander. Recreate the processes that planetary landers conduct to take the vital signs of a planet: analyzing seismographs, interpreting heat flow data, and recording the wobble.

Activities may include creating and analyzing a map of the surface of a planet, interpreting its crater history, seeing how spectroscopy is used to determine the composition of planet surfaces by igniting rock samples, conducting experiments that help us understand the gravitational and magnetic fields of Jupiter and Mars, and writing a computer program that demonstrates the inverse square law that gets a spacecraft to its destination!

Week 5 (June 24th – June 28th) – Rocket Science *$200 Field Trip Fee added to this camp*

Ignite your passion for exploration and engineering in an exhilarating journey through the realms of rocketry and physics. Join us for an unforgettable experience of building rockets, defying gravity, and uncovering the thrilling secrets of the universe. Whether you dream of becoming an aerospace engineer, a physicist, or simply want to experience the joy of rocketry, the High School Rocket Science Camp is the perfect launchpad for your ambitions.

Activities may include learning principles of physics and engineering design, building and launching rockets, exploring different designs and propulsion systems, and more. Campers will travel to Kennedy Space Center on Friday the 28th. For this field trip, campers will depart our center around 5am and arrive back around 11pm. You will be updated with exact departure and arrival times as we get closer to this camp date. 

Week 6 (July 8th – July 12th) – Influencers in STEM

An entire new generation of STEM Influencers has emerged through the wave of social media. Why not become an effective, influential communicator of science?! Influencers in STEM come from diverse backgrounds and serve a vital role in bridging the gap between scientific research and the public.

Students will learn how to become a Youtube influencer by analyzing existing science influencers (like Vsauce, Blippie, Bill Nye, and Simone Giertz), picking an audience you want to influence, forming your own brand, making an episode calendar, creating a storyboard, writing a script, filming, and editing their videos. There will be discussions about how to build a subscriber base and the importance of internet safety.

(Because of YouTube privacy and age requirements, we are able to provide you with instructions to create the channel, however, we are not able to open a channel for learners. No adult other than a parent is lawfully able to open a YouTube account for any minor. Instructions for opening a YouTube channel are included in the course.)

Week 7 (July 15th – July 19th) – Mystery Box Hack-a-thon

Mystery Box Hackathon is not your typical summer camp – it’s an adventure into the world of making, creating, and repurposing. From quirky gadgets to functional inventions, students discover the hidden potential in ordinary objects.

Take on the ultimate creative challenge. Your team’s mission? Transform a mystery box of discarded scraps into something extraordinary! Dive into the world of mechanical marvels, electrical empowerment, and creative chaos where a box of “junk” may become a catapult or a remote-controlled robot. The week culminates in a spectacular showcase of the most creative masterpieces.

Week 8 (July 22nd – July 26th) – Pre-Med *$50 Special Tech Fee added to this camp*

Pre-Med Camp is designed to help high school students feel confident pursuing a career in medicine through the hands-on introduction to concepts like Orthopedics, Cardiology, Imaging, and Bioengineering.

Activities may include creating models of joints, gait analysis, building a functioning stethoscope, designing a surgical instrument, DNA extraction and much more. Participants will be presented with several case studies and work as teams to diagnose their patients! There will be discussions about the use of AI in medicine, bioethics, and the effects of genetically modified foods.

Week 9 (July 29th – Aug 2nd) – Film School *$20 Field Trip Fee added to this camp*

Lights, camera, action! Aspiring filmmakers learn how to turn their ideas into unforgettable on-screen moments. Activities may include writing a script, recording and editing a short film, learning the science of green screens and CGI, and more.
