Rubin Observatory: First Look
Join us to celebrate the start of a new era in astronomy and astrophysics with the world’s newest and most powerful survey telescope.

On June 23rd at 11 am, the NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory will be unveiling it’s first ultra-high-definition images to the public. Join us in the Fogg Planetarium as we tune in to their live-stream and learn about their ambitious mission.
Jointly funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science, the Vera C. Rubin Observatory marks a new era in astronomy and astrophysics. Over the next ten years, the Rubin Observatory will create the ultimate movie of the night sky using the largest camera ever built — repeatedly scanning the sky to create an ultra-wide, ultra-high-definition time-lapse record of our Universe.
