Born to Be Wild 3D Scholastic Teacher Site
IMAX and Scholastic have teamed up to create a teacher-specific site for Born to Be Wild 3D. Teachers can view the trailer, learn more about the film and download activity sheets from the Educator Resource Guide. The site can be accessed at: http://scholastic.com/borntobewild/.
Team America Rocketry Challenge 2011
Registration is open for the Team America Rocketry Challenge 2011, a national model rocket competition for U.S. students in grades 7-12. Thousands of students compete each year, making TARC the world’s largest model rocket contest. Teams of three to 10 students are challenged to design, build and fly a model rocket that will climb to 750 feet with a raw egg payload and stay aloft for 40 to 45 seconds. The payload must then return to earth unbroken. Cash prizes are awarded to the top finishers. Visit http://www.rocketcontest.org.
Education Innovation - Google Science Fair
On Jan. 11, 2011, Google launched the inaugural Google Science Fair. Google has partnered with CERN, National Geographic, Scientific American and the LEGO Group to create this new STEM competition. This is a global competition open to any student aged 13-18, and students may enter as individuals or as teams of up to three. There is no entry fee. Registrations and submissions will be made online. The Science Fair will culminate in a celebratory event at Google headquarters in California in July 2011, where finalists will compete for internships, scholarships and prizes in front of a panel of celebrity scientist judges, including Nobel Laureates and household names.
