New Employee Announcement: Emily Brown

The Challenger Learning Center is proud to announce that Emily Brown has joined our team as the Group Sales & Membership Coordinator. Hailing from North Carolina, Emily graduated from Furman University in 2009, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. She recently graduated from Florida State University with a Masters degree in Arts Administration. In addition to her duties at the Challenger Learning Center, Emily also serves as the Executive Director of the Tallahassee Community Chorus. Welcome Emily!

Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee Wins Grand Prize in Worldwide IMAX® Marketing Contest

Grassroots efforts and creativity nabbed the Challenger Learning Center (CLC) the top spot in IMAX’s Born to be Wild 3D Theatre Marketing Contest. For participating in the contest, IMAX Corporation adopted an orphan elephant on behalf of the CLC from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The elephant’s name is Napasha. Find out more here.

The End of the Shuttle Era

Reporter Nate Harrington from WCTV visited the Challenger Learning Center to get our take on the end of the shuttle program. Big Bend Hospice naming Susan Borland their Hospice Hero

In a surprise award ceremony, Susan Borland, Education Manager of the Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee, was named the “Hospice Hero” by Big Bend Hospice. The ceremony took place Thursday, July 14 at 1 p.m. in the Challenger’s Mission Control room. Read more here.

Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle Visits the Challenger Learning Center

Entertainment Best Bets: Galapagos 3D

As seen in the June 17, 2011 Tallahassee Democrat Limelight:

Get up close to lounging lizards when the nature documentary "Galapagos 3-D" opens today on the big screen at the Challenger Learning Center's IMAX Theatre on Kleman Plaza. The doc explores the biological diversity and unusual geologic history of the Galapagos archipelago with Smithsonian Institution marine biologist Carole Baldwin. The film includes visits to underwater lava tubes on the ocean floor 3,000 feet below the surface as well as encounters with a whale shark and tons of iguanas. Charles Darwin would feel right at home. The narration is provide by Kenneth Branagh, and the film runs 40 minutes. It's not rated.
