IMAX 3D Launch Party - Thursday, September 30th, 7:00pm - 9:30pm

Lights...Camera...Action! Be one of the first to see a 3D IMAX show on the area's BIGGEST screen at the 3D Launch Party Thursday, September 30th, the night before the CLC IMAX 3D opens on October 1st. Hollywood will come to Tallahassee as we roll out the red carpet and welcome the paparazzi. Before the show, mingle with IMAX movie heroes and enjoy cocktails and star menu items from downtown restaurants including Andrew's, Jasmine's, Harry's and One O One. Doors open at 7:00pm and the show begins at 8:30pm. Tickets are $30 individual or $50 a couple and include champagne, wine, beer, soft drinks, food and the show. Second Saturday Space Missions!
Think you have what it takes to be an astronaut? Have you always wanted to go to the Moon, Mars or beyond? You can experience the next best thing to space travel at the Challenger Learning Center Space Mission Simulator. On the second Saturday of each month from 10am-12pm you will have the opportunity to be a part of a NASA mission.
The next mission will blast off on Saturday, September 11th. Astronauts must be at least nine (9) years old to participate, except for the Mininaut missions. Children younger than 9 accompanied by an adult may participate in the Mininaut missions (visit the main public missions page for a schedule). The cost for your trip to outer space is $10 per-person for CLC members and $15 per-person for non-members. Participants in the program can purchase a Comet Special (Hot Dog, Chips & Small Fountain Drink) at the discounted rate of $5.00.

September 4, 2010: Monthly "Sky Guy" Free Show
Come on down to the Downtown Digital Dome Theatre and Planetarium and enjoy a free planetarium show Saturday, September 4, at 10am. This planetarium show is presented by the Tallahassee Astronomical Society and coordinated with the monthly Democrat "Sky Guy" column. The September sky over Tallahassee will be reviewed including prominent constellations, stars and planets.
The 11:00 a.m. regular planetarium will be one-half off the regular price for those attending the 10:00 a.m. free planetarium show. Visit the Downtown Digital Dome Show Descriptions page for more information.
Saturday Scout Astronomy Programs
The Challenger Learning Center and the Tallahassee Astronomical Society offer Scout Astronomy Programs on the second Saturday of the month (during the school year). The first Scout program for the 2010-2011 school year is September 11th for Brownies. All programs are only $15 per Scout and include planetarium shows in the Downtown Digital Dome Theatre.
