Challenger Learning Center Summer Camp Education Staff

Chris Alford has a BS in Criminology and a minor degree in Business from Florida State University. Chris has been teaching 7th grade mathematics at Havana Magnet School for the last two years and is also head baseball coach. Chris interned at the Challenger Learning Center during the summer of 2010 while a student at Florida State University and will specialize in middle school camps this summer. 

Krystn Benson is pursuing her Masters in Elementary Education at Florida State University and will have her degree in December 2016. Krystn works year-round providing education programs at the Challenger Learning Center. This is her second summer with Camp Challenger and she will bring her expertise to the K-1 classroom.

Susan Borland is the education manager of the Challenger Learning Center. She has been coordinating Camp Challenger camps for fourteen years and oversees the preparation and implementation of the curriculum. Susan has over 20 years of teaching experience and has her Bachelors from SUNY Cortland and pursued her Masters in Science Education at SUNY Cortland and SUNY Stony Brook.

Brianna Bosch is a junior at Florida State University pursuing a double major in Communication Science and Disorders and Family and Child Sciences. She has previous experience working with K-8 grade on teaching health/fitness, coordinating activities at resorts, and working with handicapped individuals. This will be her first summer working with the Challenger Learning Center.

William Figueroa leads the technology based camps for Camp Challenger. He has a degree in information technology and has experience with Special Education children in Thomasville. He is a certified Boy Scouts Merit Badge Counselor. William works year-round providing education programs at the Challenger Learning Center and this is his third summer providing exciting curriculum for Camp Challenger.

Mackie Fleming has an Early Childhood Education degree from University of South Florida.  Mackie has ten years of teaching experience in Hillsborough County.  This will be her first summer working with Challenger Learning Center specializing in elementary school camps.

Stephanie Francois has a BA in Elementary Education from Florida A&M University. Stephanie has previous experience working with children throughout various elementary schools Leon County conducted her student teaching experience in 2nd grade at Astoria Park Elementary. This will be Stephanie's second summer working for Camp Challenger at the Challenger Learning Center.

Claire Gallo has a BA in Elementary Education and Teaching from Florida State University.  She completed her internship at Roberts Elementary and substitute teaches in Leon County Schools.  This is Claire's second summer at Camp Challenger.  She is looking forward to continue learning at the center in order to enrich the science curriculum in her classroom come this August. 

Dinesha Hill is a senior elementary education major at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She brings years of experience with different summer camps along with pre-service classroom teaching here in Tallahassee. This will be her second summer camp working with The Challenger Learning Center.

Sarah Hyde is working towards a master's degree in Elementary Education at Thomas University.
Sarah works year-round providing education programs at the Challenger Learning Center and this is his second summer providing exciting K-1 curriculum for Camp Challenger.

Xiomara James is a Pre-Service teacher pursuing her Elementary Education degree from Florida A&M University. She has had previous experience working with children at Church Camps, as well as volunteering with various Elementary schools. Xiomara brings her enthusiasm to her first summer working with Challenger Learning Center!

Jestina Johnson-McRoy has an AA degree in Elementary education. Jestina has previous experience working with children while interning at TCC and Flagler College. She is currently working as a parprofessional instructor at Sealey Elementary School in a Pre-K class. This will be her first summer working with Challenger Learning Center.

Jakob Konner has a  BS in Biology  from Florida State University. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Science Teaching. Jakob has completed his internship at Florida State University School teaching middle school Life Science and high school Biology. This will be Jakob's second summer working with the Challenger Learning Center.

Gabrielle Lasanta is currently a senior pursuing her degree in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry from Florida State University. After graduating, she aspires to attend medical school to become a pediatrician. Gabrielle has summer camp experience at other local camps. This will be her first summer working at the Challenger Learning Center. 

Lacey Meisner has recently graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She has four years of summer camp experience and this will be her second summer camp at Challenger.

Emily Perry has a BA in Elementary Education from Florida A&M University. She is currently a 3rd grade teacher in Gadsden County. This will be Emily’s second summer working with the elementary school camps at Challenger Learning Center. 

Nathan Reaves has a BS in Mathematics and a BS in Education from Florida State University. He currently teaches math at Leon High School. Experienced in many camp settings, Nathan brings his math expertise to our Minecraft and technology camps.

Mariah Rucker is currently a senior pursuing her chemical engineering degree from Florida State University. Mariah has previous experience working at various summer Camps for several years. This will be her first summer working with Challenger Learning Center and she will specialize in middle school camps. 

Larry Thompson is leading the Crime FightersSpace Heroes, and Earth Rocks! camps. With his degree in Criminology and passion for science education, he provides an exciting curriculum to Camp Challenger.

Clay Tomlinson has a BS in environmental science from Florida State University with the majority of his coursework focusing on meteorology.  He has a couple years of formal and informal teaching experience.  Clay joined our education staff in January 2015 and now serves as the Education Assistant and Camp Manager.

Jana Wells has an English education degree from Florida State University. Jana has done pre-service teaching at Chiles High School and Leon High School. This will be her fourth summer working with Challenger Learning Center and she will specialize in upper elementary and middle school camps.
