What is our teaching philosophy?
The Challenger Learning Center’s “Camp Challenger” strives to ensure campers have fun in a safe and educational atmosphere. The Challenger Learning Center is the area’s premier “edutainment” destination. With a space mission simulator, state-of-the-art IMAX® theatre and out-of-this-world planetarium theatre, your camp experience at the Challenger Learning Center will be one your children won’t soon forget.

What's the camper to staff ratio?
At the Challenger Center, each camp group contains at least one certified teacher. Campers are guaranteed focused attention with a ratio of at least one adult for every eight children. 

Will there be adult supervision throughout the day?
Yes! Our staff members supervise the students throughout the day, both in class, as well as during the recess and lunch breaks.

Do students get some outdoor recreation?
Yes, we have a 30 minute recess break around lunch time. During this time, students and staff go outside to participate in different recreation activities.

Do you serve lunch?
Yes; Lunch selections vary by day of the week. View the camp registration form to view lunches. Typical options include sandwiches, chicken nuggets, pizza, hot dogs or veggie dogs. Most meals come with chips or apple sauce and a cookie. Water is also provided for your child. If you want your child to have a drink other than water, please provide that from home.

What is the camp schedule? Is before and after-school care offered?
Camp is scheduled from 9am-4pm daily. Extended care is available from 8-9am and 4-6pm at the rate of $5 for each pre-camp or post-camp session. You must indicate on the registration form that you plan to participate in the CLC extended care. Also, include the cost of extended care in your camp reservation payment. Extended care campers will not be participating in extra camp activities during extended hours.

What is your privacy policy?
The Challenger Learning Center does not share any personal information, including email addresses, with third parties interested in contacting you or collecting information about you. In addition, we DO NOT sell, rent, give or trade personal information we collect from online, phone or mail-in registrations.

Who are the instructors?
Camp counselors, as well as volunteers, are made up of teachers, students pursuing a degree in education, adults with an extensive science background and individuals experienced with child care or educational programs. Additionally, in order to maintain a secure atmosphere, all camp staff undergoes a Level 2 background check and all camp staff members are diligent about checking identification of those dropping off/picking up children.

What about the age ranges - will my child be too young or too old compared with the rest of the class?
Summer Camp is open to students who've completed kindergarten through 8th grade. Spring Break and Winter Camps are limited to kindergarten through 5th grade. We group our students in age appropriate classes. Since most classes have 2-3 instructors, we will often divide the seating of students so that the students are grouped by age. You can call us to get the current mix of students by age in classes that you are interested in.

What is the tuition for the program?
Single day camps are $40 – includes lunch. Weeklong summer camps are $180/per week – includes lunch. Discounted price of $170/per week for multiple children or additional weeks. Summer Camps are $162/per week for CLC Family Members. *$15 additional lab/materials fee applies for selected summer camps. Payment can be made by cash, check, VISA, or Mastercard.

How can I register?
The registration form must be completed in its entirety and returned no later than one week before the camp date. Camps are limited in size; therefore, registration applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis. You can register by fax, email, direct mail, or by dropping your forms off at the Center.

What is your refund policy?
Request for cancellation must be received in writing at the CLC prior to the camp session start date. Full refunds will be allowed for written requests received two weeks in advance of the camp’s start date. Half Refunds will be allowed for written requests received one week in advance of the camp’s start date. No refunds will be granted after the camp session start date. Please allow approximately 90 days for refunds to be processed, unless payment was received by credit card. Please note: The refund policy applies to extended care sessions as well.

Do you keep a waiting list for full camps?
Yes, each full camp will have a waiting list. You must fill out and submit a registration form in order to be added to a waiting list. Be sure to select all camp dates you would like your child to attend. If we receive a cancellation and have a space become available for your child, we will contact you promptly to verify your interest in the space and complete registration. You will not be charged for the camp unless you have verified your interest and claimed the space. Registration is not complete until we have received payment in full.
